Barber Shop Etquette: What is the standard?

I have a barber shop that caters to the young and old. I also have young and old barbers. I'm the owner of the shop and I'm having a problem with some of the younger clientel coming in and using profanity and sometimes talking about negative subjects loud enough for other customers to here.

Yet some people tell me that thats part of a barber shop. It seemsI lose customers if I'm too square and if its to wild....what should I do ?Barber Shop Etquette: What is the standard?
Tell them to tone it down. On the other hand, elderly patrons do sit and talk about disgusting things as well (colonoscopies, bladder problems, etc.) Your shop, your rules.Barber Shop Etquette: What is the standard?
Vulgarness and excessive profanity shouldn't be a part of any respectable establishment. I'm a youngster myself, but still find it somewhat awkward and disrespectful if my barber is swearing while i'm trying to get a fade.

I would simply make sure that your employees acknowledge that their job may be at risk if they continue to disrespect your clients, as I sure they are. They can be amusing and maintain that nice barbershop atmosphere without being rude.

Any conversation had by barbers will probably he heard by their customers, and there is always a time and place for them to hold their own conversations -- such as before or after work. Definintely not during, if the subject matter may be considered rude or offensive.
Tell your workers to help by taking the attention of those who do this by talking in different matters ,for those who doesn't like it still your workers can ease it by explaining that many people did that young also share the dislike with customer
You have to decide what kind of people you want to cater to and its a business...who brings you more money and who are the majority of your customers? I say go where the money is or your out of a business!
it's your business and you can make the rules.. maybe post a sign on the door about proper etiquette on the premises... it's your choice on what kind of clientele you want in your business...
Maybe give them something to do like a getting a couple of pinball machines for them to use.
You gotta go where the wind blows
Post a notice for people to show respect. We are all in this together.
