Is it me or is Tiki Barber not ready to retire?

Watching last nights game against the Redskins (12/30/06). I dont think Tiki Barber is ready to retire. I think he is good for another year or two. your thoughtsIs it me or is Tiki Barber not ready to retire?
The statement that most backs stats drop after 28 is a little misleading here for 2 reasons. Looking at some of the recent great backs, it's not true.

Emmitt Smith

1996 27 DAL NFL 15 327 1204 12 42

1997 28 DAL NFL 16 261 1074 4 44

1998 29 DAL NFL 16 319 1332 13 32

1999 30 DAL NFL 15 329 1397 11 63

Walter Payton

1981 27 CHI NFL 16 339 1222 6 39

1982 28 CHI NFL 9 148 596 1 26

1983 29 CHI NFL 16 314 1421 6 49

1984 30 CHI NFL 16 381 1684 11 72

Barry Sanders

1995 27 DET NFL 16 314 1500 11 75

1996 28 DET NFL 16 307 1553 11 54

1997 29 DET NFL 16 335 2053 11 82

1998 30 DET NFL 16 343 1491 4 73

All three of these guy were still preforming at their peaks. But even more evident as to why Tiki should be able to keep playing is his lack of play early in his career. These three guys were work horses from rookie year on and were able to keep playing.

Looking at Tiki's first few years, the damage to his body, and aging should have been much less in comparison.

Tiki's First 3 years:

1997 22 NYG NFL 12 136 511 3 42

1998 23 NYG NFL 16 52 166 0 23

1999 24 NYG NFL 16 62 258 0 30

All that being said, he could easily play another year, but obviously has made the choice to not because his career in other areas is taking off already. Expect to see a lot of Tiki in the commentator's booth. He has made the choice it would appear to give up on the Hall of Fame, in exchange for not walking with a cane, and major aches for the rest of his life.Is it me or is Tiki Barber not ready to retire?
i think he is ready for another four years. he had his best game of his career. hes retiring because he is a sissy who is scared to get injured.
he's gonna retire he wants to do something else with his life he was the smartest student in his college
Tiki could play another year of two but he wants to retire. Lets just hope he can keep up the good work in the playoffs.
Yeah, he's still got a good amount of gas left in his tank. Viinny Testaverde, now that's a guy who's running on empty.
he is probably physically capable of returning. stats show, though, that after 28, RBs stats decline sharply. Besides, he wants to retire to pursue other things, and he has the skills to do just that. Why play another 5 years and then not be able to walk when he is 50?
It's you.
He's definitely in his prime, but he's a very smart guy with a wide variety of interests and talents. If you're heart's not in the game anymore, then you walk away regardless of how good you might be. Think of Barry Sanders, he walked away in the hopes of leaving the stinkin lions but he retired for good because he just wasn't in it anymore.....
I think he should keep playing. he is one of the most explosive running backs ever to play the game. so what if he is slowing down
It's you. He's ready to retire.
Yeah, he wants to go into television.
