  • Do more woman with short hair or long hair go to a barber shop?

    Both. I am a Barber, and do about equal amounts of men and women. A barber will give you a much more precise haircut then a beautician. Now days, barbers and beauticians go to school the same amount of time , but while barbers focus on hair alone a beautician also studies nails and massage etc. So a barber will know more about hair in general. As a barber student I studied all mens and womens cuts plus some coloring and perming, my education was focused solely on the hair and scalp of both sexes.Do more woman with short hair or long hair go to a barber shop?
    to whom it concerns..it really depends on the person.. some people love short hair and other love long hair..and to tell ya..alot wears wigs,,as well.....i guess what it boils down to,, how you really like your hair, why? because short hair soots alot of folks, and then long soots others..its all about features..eye colors..color of your hair....and so on..Do more woman with short hair or long hair go to a barber shop?

    What numbers do I tell my barber/hairdresser if I want this hairstyle (messed up links in last one)?

    Do I get like a 3 on the sides or something? It looks like the top is longer than the sides obviously. What numbers in specific do I tell the barber? I don't want to take a pic in.

    I repeat, I do not want to take in a pic. Please don't suggest that.What numbers do I tell my barber/hairdresser if I want this hairstyle (messed up links in last one)?
    First of all I know you DO NOT want to take the pics in... but seriously keep em' with you just in case. I always like when clients bring pics because I can know exactly how to do the cut in the pic and its usually totally different than how they are explaining it. I would say 3 or 4 on the sides depending on how long your hair is now and scissor on top. With that style you don't want a uniform haircut which clippers would do.What numbers do I tell my barber/hairdresser if I want this hairstyle (messed up links in last one)?
    i would start by telling him or her u want short on sides and long on top. I would not use clippers on the side it would be to short and to blunt. I would say scissor cut short about 2 inches left on the sides and from the bottom to crown or high temple. Then 3 1/2 to 4 left on top. Dont blend with clippers. just use alittle thinning shears and just the tips on the sides. Not straight up do with angle. Good luck tell me how your hair turns out olivia921@yahoo.com

    Expand your knowledge, get a big old book on any subject that vaguely interests you but that you don't know a lot about. Read in your spare time until finished, then get another book and repeat. You will never run out of things to read.
    Write your life story. You must have heard some wonderful tales from customers.
    sell toupees on the internet
    read a book, or go to the back yard put his feet up and rest for a while to save his legs from aching has he is always on his feet all day
    any chance of a free haircut ????????????????
    i kill time by working crossword puzzles.
    Clean up your station. Customers like to come to a clean area. We understand when the shop is packed that you really don't have time to really clean up, but after every customer the floor at your station should be swept. You can clean your clippers, combs, use the bathroom, smoke,etc.
    clean his equipment and freshing up for the next client.

    THE OWL CRITIC

    by James T. Fields

    [This has always been one of my favorite poems; not sure when it was written, but I've known it at least from the 1950s - Sandy Wilbur]

    ';Who stuffed that white owl?'; No one spoke in the shop.

    The barber was busy, and he couldn't stop.

    The customers, waiting their turns, were all reading

    The ';Daily,'; the ';Herald,'; the ';Post,'; little heeding

    The young man who blurted out such a blunt question;

    Not one raised his head, or even made a suggestion;

    And the barber kept on shaving.

    ';Don't you see, Mr. Brown,';

    Cried the youth, with a frown,

    ';How wrong the whole thing is,

    How preposterous each wing is

    How flattened the head is, how jammed down the neck is---

    In short, the whole owl, what an ignorant wreck 'tis!

    I make no apology;

    I've learned owl-eology.

    I've passed days and nights in a hundred collections,

    And can not be blinded to any deflections

    Arising from unskillful fingers that fail

    To stuff a bird right from his beak to his tail.

    Mr. Brown! Mr. Brown!

    Do take that bird down

    Or you'll be the laughing stock of the town!';

    And the barber kept on shaving.

    ';I've STUDIED owls,

    And other night fowls,

    And I tell you

    What I know to be true;

    An owl can not roost

    With his limbs so unloosed;

    No owl in the world

    Ever had his claws curled,

    Ever had his legs slanted,

    Ever had his bill canted,

    Ever had his neck screwed

    Into that attitude.

    He can't do it, because

    'Tis against all bird laws.

    Anatomy teaches,

    Ornithology preaches,

    An owl has a toe

    That CAN'T turn out so!

    I've made the white owl my study for years,

    And to see such a job almost moves me to tears!

    Mr. Brown, I'm amazed

    You should be so gone crazed

    As to put up a bird in the posture absurd!

    To look on that bird really brings on a dizziness;

    The man who stuffed him didn't have know his business!';

    And the barber kept on shaving.

    ';Imagine those eyes.

    I'm filled with surprise

    Taxidermists would pass

    Off on you such poor glass;

    So unnatural they seem

    They'd make Audubon scream,

    And John Burroughs laugh

    To encounter such chaff.

    Do that that bird down;

    Have his stuffed again, Brown!';

    And the barber kept on shaving.

    ';With some sawdust and bark

    I could stuff in the dark

    An owl better than that.

    I could make an old hat

    Look more like an owl

    That that horrid fowl,

    Stuck up there so stiff like a side of coarse leather.

    In fact, about HIM, there's not one natural feather!';

    Just then, with a wink and a sly normal lurch,

    The owl, very gravely, got down from his perch,

    Walked round and regarded his fault-finding critic

    (Who thought he was stuffed) with a glance analytic,

    And then fairly hooted, as if he should say:

    ';Your learnings at fault THIS time, anyway;

    Don't waste it again on a live bird, I pray.

    I'm an owl; you're another. Sir Critic, good day!';

    and the barber kept on shaving,

    while the ocean it was waving;

    and then I wet pants,

    and the room was filled with ants.

    I hope that was helpful.

    I must admit that I'd never heard of this. I really enjoyed it though, so thank you for bringing it to my attention...
